About Cast-in-Place Technology

Homes are constructed by pouring concrete into molds or forms directly at the building site. This method creates strong, durable, and seamless structures. Built to Last. Designed for Life.

  • Strength and Durability: Creates strong, monolithic structures with fewer joints, leading to extended structural longevity.

  • Disaster Resistance: Reinforced cement walls and hurricane anchors resist tornado winds, hail, and fire, creating a high degree of protection against various natural disasters.

  • Energy Efficiency: Concrete has a high thermal mass, which helps moderate indoor temperatures, reducing the need for heating in winter and cooling in summer. The airtight construction forms solid, continuous walls, which minimize air leakage and reduce drafts. The homes also have spray foam insulation.

  • Reduce Maintenance: Requires less ongoing maintenance, lowering the lifecycle costs (no need for frequent repainting, re-siding, structural patching, etc.). Concrete won’t warp, shrink, swell, or degrade under UV exposure, and concrete walls don’t settle like wood frames.

  • Moisture & Pest Resistance: Concrete is impermeable to moisture when properly cured and sealed, meaning it won’t rot, rust, or support mold. Concrete is also naturally resistant to termites, rodents, ants, and other pests.

  • Quiet & Comfortable: Thick walls block noise and the tighter envelopes create a healthy, consistent indoor environment.

From the Architect

The homes were designed with four primary ideas in mind - durability, sustainability, affordability, and resilience. The design team used these touchstones to create the plans and construction methodology to rethink how we approach housing. At the core, the homes are efficient 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom designs to meet the needs of a wide range of owners, from first-time home buyers to empty nesters.

Durability, sustainability, and affordability go hand in hand. The stout 8" exterior concrete walls will require essentially no maintenance over the lifetime of the home, which means fewer dollars out of pocket for home maintenance and upkeep. Since the material is durable and enduring, it will not require replacement or updates for the life of the home. Further, the concrete acts as a thermal buffer to moderate seasonal temperature swings, and continuous interior insulation keeps heating and cooling dollars where you need them - inside the home. Predictable energy bills will be a welcome change, and the high level of attention to sealing and natural solidity of concrete ensures drafts are a thing of the past. The overall building envelope is designed to control interior air quality to keep you comfortable year-round.

The home offers a higher level of resilience than typical construction. The walls and roof attachment offer upgraded protection from the elements. The steel-reinforced concrete offers protection from wind and weather unparalleled in conventional construction. The tight, well-insulated enclosure provides a buffer to maintain interior comfort and temperatures in the event of power outages.
