The Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine recently hosted Empowerment Luncheons, sponsored by Geri Kent. These two biennial events bring together area middle school students and community leaders for meaningful conversations on leadership, resilience, and positive decision-making.

EmpowerMENt Luncheon

This year’s EmpowerMENt Luncheon featured keynote speaker Gage Huston, General Manager at Muscatine Power and Water, who shared a powerful message about perseverance, personal growth, and making intentional choices. His story resonated deeply with students and professionals alike. The conversation was skillfully guided by moderator Tony Loconsole, Manager, Marketing and Sales at Muscatine Power and Water, who helped create an engaging and supportive environment for discussion.

Women’s Empowerment Luncheon

The Women’s Empowerment Luncheon welcomed speaker Angie Johnson, Vice President of Member and Community Relations at HNI Corporation, whose heartfelt reflections on confidence, overcoming obstacles, and embracing opportunities inspired the young women in attendance. Moderator Jen Fridley, Director of Student Services at the Muscatine Community School District, facilitated thoughtful dialogue, encouraging students to connect with the speaker’s experiences and reflect on their own paths.

Both events united students from across Muscatine County with community members committed to empowering the next generation. Through shared stories, open conversation, and mentoring moments, students were encouraged to recognize their strengths, envision future possibilities, and understand the impact of their choices.

“Angie and Gage were simply outstanding—offering relatable, heartfelt messages about finding confidence, leaning on mentors, and staying focused on what matters most. We are very grateful for their support, and we hope all who attended left feeling inspired and empowered,” said Lynsey Krusie, Director of Community Relations at the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine.

The Community Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to Geri Kent, whose generous sponsorship and support make these events possible. We also thank participating schools, guest speakers, moderators, and community leaders for contributing to an uplifting and memorable experience for all involved.
